Violin Lessons & Musical Mentorship

A personal approach to teaching, grounded in the living traditions of performance and artistry.

Teaching and Coaching

Education has always been a central pillar of my life and career. I’ve had the privilege of studying under distinguished musicians including Lorand Fenyves and Yfrah Neaman, and was further enriched through coaching with Leon Fleisher, Jaime Laredo, and the Amadeus String Quartet. Their insights shaped not only my artistry but also my passion for teaching β€” a passion I have pursued at institutions including the Royal College of Music London, Oxford University, Lancing College UK, and Mount Royal Conservatory Calgary.

Over the past 30 years, I have built a deeply rewarding teaching practice, guiding students at all levels β€” from young beginners to advanced performers preparing for professional careers. Many of my students have gone on to study at elite institutions, including Stanford University, the University of Toronto, Cambridge University, Oxford University, and the Royal College of Music. Numerous former students now perform professionally in orchestras and string quartets around the world.

β€œMy approach emphasizes a strong technical foundation, which I believe is essential for unlocking a student’s full musical potential. Technique is not an end in itself, but a tool that enables genuine expression and artistic freedom on the violin.”

Educational Leadership

In addition to individual instruction, I have led, examined, and coached ensembles and string programs at major institutions, including the Royal College of Music and Cambridge University, as well as various international programs in Ghana, Sri Lanka, and India. I also served as Head of Strings at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, UK, where I developed comprehensive curricula and mentored both students and teachers.

My commitment to outreach and music education extends to children as young as four. I have conducted numerous workshops and creative projects focused on early musical development. Many of these programs have been in collaboration with esteemed composer and Kora master Tunde Jegede, blending African classical traditions with Western classical music in a unique and enriching format.

I currently maintain a teaching studio at the Mount Royal University Conservatory in Calgary, Canada, where I continue to mentor aspiring musicians and contribute to a vibrant artistic community.
