Classical music without borders
The Samadhi Ensemble is a contemporary chamber group dedicated to performing music that bridges classical and indigenous traditions from across the globe. Renowned for its imaginative programming, bold collaborations, and captivating performances, the ensemble brings together diverse musical cultures and perspectives from the Americas, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Founded by violinist Daniel Bhattacharya and composer Tunde Jegede, the ensemble is driven by a shared vision of reimagining the concert experience. With a focus on contemporary music, Samadhi embraces a genre-crossing approach, collaborating with award-winning artists from around the world and pushing the boundaries of how classical music is created, performed, and perceived.
Redefining the Classical Experience
The ensemble’s flexible, shape-shifting format allows for innovative performances that range from cutting-edge new music to reimagined classical masterworks, including interdisciplinary and staged productions. Their international appearances reflect a commitment to artistic excellence and cultural dialogue.
Based in Western Canada, the Samadhi Ensemble is forging a new path for classical music — one that is inclusive, forward-looking, and deeply rooted in the global musical landscape.
Artists who shape the sound
The Samadhi Ensemble collaborates with award-winning artists from around the world whose practice spans tradition and innovation. These are not guest appearances — they are genuine creative partnerships that shape each programme from the ground up.
